Indications

Dysphagia patients who have suffered cerebral vascular disease or head trauma are the most frequently affected. Other applications find the device in patients where dysphagia is caused by Parkinson's disease, ALS, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease and dementia. Principle VitalStim therapy

VitalStim therapy is a specialized form of neuromuscular electrical stimulation designed to treat dysphagia via muscle re-education. A small, carefully calibrated current is delivered to the muscles of the neck or on the cheeks of the help specially designed electrode. The current stimulates the motor nerves in the throat while the patient tries to induce swallowing and muscle contraction.

VitalStim electrodes

This type of electrode was specifically developed for electrostimulation in the treatment of dysphagia. Unique electrode design for safe energy transfer for scaling protocols VitalStim therapy (60 min), which requires more endurance than conventional electrostimulation protocols. The shape and flexible material can be adapted to the front parts of the neck.
